While the Summit County Real Estate market has certainly been hit by the effects of the national economy over the last few years, it is interesting to look at the long term trends. 

Below is a graph showing the average real estate prices in Summit County for the last 24 years.  You can see that on average, many of our Summit County property owners who bought in 2006 or earlier still have equity in their mountain home.  Coupled with the fact that almost half of Summit County real estate transactions are all cash, these factors keep our foreclosure and short sale rates relatively low.  Click on the image to see the large version:
